Heads up for transparency ;-)
For the upcoming white skin tone, we’re currently considering using full soft-grade vinyl (sofubi) instead of the usual mix of soft and hard-grade materials.
While all vinyl will naturally change color as it ages, soft-grade parts tend to yellow at a slower and more even rate compared to hard-grade parts. This is partly due to differences in how the materials are formulated and how they interact with light. Harder parts can sometimes yellow faster or more noticeably, which becomes more visible on lighter tones like white.
This particular white formulation has only been under observation for about 8 months. So far, we haven’t seen any visible yellowing—but testing it over a longer period would delay release. Based on current results, we’re leaning toward full soft-grade to help maintain long-term visual consistency.
For the Blue Doll revival, we’ve already decided on full soft-grade bodies after observing that the hard parts did indeed yellow more noticeably during testing.
